Wayne Mark Rooney, the all-time highest Manchester United and England goalscorer, bid his farewell to the pitch as a player on January 16th. Wayne Rooney has had already retired from the Three-Lions national duty in August of 2017 after registering 53 goals and being named as one of the highest capped England Internationals with 119 caps. 

At 35, Rooney is now set to become the new manager of the championship football club Derby County with a contract signed till 2023, overtaking the post held by former Derby Manager Phillip Cocu. Wayne Rooney has been a prolific English number 9, who has played professional football for 19 years. His first senior appearance as a 16-year old for Everton as he scored a decisive equalizer in a match against Arsenal. Within a few months, he was linked with Machester United, who signed him for $32.5 million, making him the highest-paid teenager. 

Wayne enjoyed his most fruitful days at Old Trafford winning every major trophy English and Europian club-football has to offer. Rooney later moved back to Everton where he played for 18-months before joining the MLS club DC United and finally returned back to England to join Derby as their Number 10. Throughout his career, Rooney has broken major records, scored un-believable goals, and achieved something every professional footballer dreams of. 

As per Forbes’ 2020, Wayne Rooney’s net worth is around $170 million making him one of the wealthiest English footballers. He also has a lifetime contract with sporting giants Umbro and a $3.2 million managerial deal with Derby which might ensure a surge in his net worth in the near future as well. But till then, we all hope Rooney to have a wonderful post-retirement life. We wish that he goes on to achieve similar feet as his fellow countrymen Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard have reached in their managerial career with Rangers FC and Chelsea respectively.
